Ag Land Stage Offers Intimate Setting for Well-Known Personalities and Performers
The Sandwich Fair has always prided itself on offering high quality entertainment throughout the fairgrounds for patrons to enjoy free of charge. The Ag Land Stage gives fairgoers a fantastic chance to relax and enjoy talented musicians and celebrities at absolutely no cost! From Wednesday, September 3rd through Sunday, September 7th, the Ag Land Stage will be alive with the sounds of summer during all hours of the fair.
Wednesday, September 3rd
Round House Band-12-5 pm- This year’s fair will start in full swing as “Round House” kicks off the Ag Land Stage performances. Round House is well known for their full-flavored music and lively stage performances and certainly won’t leave listeners disappointed!
Orion Samuelson and Max Armstrong-12-5 pm- Accompanying Round House will be two of the most recognizable voices in radio: Orion Samuelson and Max Armstrong. These agricultural personalities are syndicated on hundreds of stations and can be heard in every state and in at least 30 nations! With countless awards and Oscars between them, the Sandwich Fair is honored to welcome this dynamic duo to the 2008 fair!
Ashton Gap-5:30-6 pm-Ashton Gap is a distinctive, nationally known bluegrass group from Northern Illinois that possesses a clear, clean style, and an innovative approach to all facets of bluegrass music. The combined effects of harmony and acoustic instruments blend to create incredible sound that is 100% bluegrass! Ashley Lewis established Ashton Gap in 2002 and plays the mandolin, lead guitar, and fiddle, as well sings clear, pure vocals & harmony. There won’t be any gaps in their performance; this band is blue-rific!
Fiddle Contest-6 pm- Following Ashton Gap, Sandwich welcomes the area’s finest fiddlers to showcase their skills in a fiddle contest! This will provide aspiring musicians a stage to sound their strings and fairgoers a chance to hear some amazing talent. The contest is open to Country, Bluegrass, Irish, French, Cajun and a host of other traditional styles. Over $800 will be awarded, so rosin up those bows and come on out to Sandwich!
Thursday, September 4th-
Round House Band with Orion Samuelson and Max Armstrong will start off the day once again with their music and talk from 12-5 pm.
Coco and the Nuts-7-11 pm- “Coco & the Nuts” is a fun-time, rock and rhythms band based out of the Sandwich area. The band brings energy and fun to the stage playing a mix of reggae, pop, funk, rock & roll, and zydeco songs. Combining solid musicianship with a sense of humor, this band knows how to have a good time! You’d be “nuts” to miss the fun, so come on out Thursday and enjoy the show!
Friday, September 5th-
The Lizzy Neal Band-7-11 pm- After an Armed Services Tribute from 3-5 pm, The Lizzy Neal Band will bring their dynamic, road-tested stage show to the Ag Land Stage for an evening of first-rate entertainment. By blending blues, funk, soul and rock, this group has created an original sound that is taking the local scene by storm!
Saturday, September 6th-
White Horse-1-4 pm- Galloping onto the Ag Land Stage for an afternoon of music will be one of the most tight-knit bands in the area. White Horse is a thoroughbred ensemble that brings an inspired brand of rock as they roll across the Midwest.
Slick Adams-7-11 pm- Guitars and banjos and mandolins, oh my! Hailing from the heart of the heartland, Slick Adams is an American band. Their unique, laid back energy is Midwest American through and through. Backed by first class multi-instrumentalists and an absolutely smoking rhythm section, Slick Adams can make you sing and dance, laugh and cry!
Sunday, September, 7th-
Outpatience-1-4 pm- Closing out the Ag Land Stage performances will be “Outpatience.” Outpatience is an energetic rock band that focuses on providing a great time for audiences of all ages. An entertaining band to watch live, they play a variety of tunes from the 70’s to the present that the audience can enjoy dancing and singing along to. Outpatience covers tunes from a variety of artists like The Beatles, Talking Heads, Men at Work , The Ramones, Johnny Cash and The Cars. They are a guaranteed prescription for fun, and a great way to finish up the fair!
